Case Study: Fixing permanent SafeCom SQL performance issues at large client
One of our more recent support contract wins – a SafeCom solution at a multi-national professional services firm with over 700 MFDs – have for a while complained about slow print speeds. That problem eventually came to a head and the system completely failed several times in the space of a few weeks. Upon closer inspection, we identified a complete lack of SQL performance management (SQL indexes), inherent in earlier versions of the SafeCom G3 software.
As a site-wide upgrade was not feasible at the time we suggested to manually rectify the issue and implement the specific measures. This was done a few days later, out of hours and tested thoroughly before going live again. Result: Customer delighted the system is available again and praising the new found operating speeds for basic user print release operations. What next: The version in place was years behind the current release, so in partnership with the client and their main contractor we designed an upgrade and migration process to move to new servers and the latest software versions to be carried out shortly. In addition we will implement a development environment allowing the client’s in-house team to test features and new releases.
